Nursery Rhymes

Nursery Rhymes are a great way to introduce children to the joys of reading. As these are often a child's first experience with written language, their first impressions of reading will be built on the relationships they observe. Spending quality time in a positive atmosphere can help our children develop a love of reading early in their lives.

As with any "literature," nursery rhymes introduce children to new vocabulary and expand the world of their understanding (and imagination). Children can learn about places and things they have never seen before. They can also begin to understand different cultures.

Since most nursery rhymes contain several rhyming words, they have the added advantage of helping children make predictions about how each line will end. This also helps children learn to memorize.

Outdoor Activities

Outdoor activities give our children an opportunity to sing a little louder and move in a larger space.  The children will enjoy it and have lots of fun doing it!

Game : Hop In The Hoops
Materials:
Different colored hoops, an open area and drum .

Description:
Let the children warm up in an open area.  Give the children different ideas for moving around - walk, hop, skip, run, walk sideways, run backwards and so on.  Place lots of different colored hoops around the open space. Demonstrate to the children how to walk or run around without touching the hoops.  Intersperse these instructions with 'stand in groups of two in red hoops' or  'three people go into each green hoop' and so on.

Get the children to listen to the next instruction by beat the drum or clap your hands, the children stop and listen for the next step. For example, put your hand in a hoop, put your foot in a hoop.  Make it more complex by adding colors and numbers. For example, put one knee in a red hoop, put four fingers in a yellow hoop and so on.

Problems in learning to read

There's always difficulties when learning a new language. For my Year 1 students, almost of them cannot even read properly. Learning to read was exceptionally difficult because identical letter string often have different pronunciation and the pronunciation of words is not always following the same rules.

English Worksheets

This website contains thousands of printables for teachers and it's all free. I always visit this website to print out the worksheets for my students.

Share something....

1. Never Study A Single English Word
That’s right, do not memorize words. Native speakers do not learn English by remembering single words. Native speakers learn phrases.
2. Never Study Grammar
Right now. Stop. Put away your grammar books and textbooks. Grammar rules teach you to think about English, you want to speak automatically– without thinking!
3. Learn With Your Ears, Not Your Eyes
Spend most of your study time listening- that is the key to great speaking.
4. Slow, Deep Learning Is Best
Its not enough to know a definition. Its not enough to remember for a test. You must put the word deep into your brain. To speak English easily, you must repeat each lesson many times.
5. Use Point Of View Mini-Stories
You must learn grammar by listening to real English. The best way is to listen to the same story… told in different times (points of view): Past, Perfect, Present, Future. How do you do this? Easy! Find a story or article in the present tense. Then ask your native speaker tutor to write it again in the Past, with Perfect tenses, and in the Future. Finally, ask him to read and record these stories for you.
6. Only Use Real English Lessons & Materials
How do you learn Real English? It’s easy. Stop using textbooks. Instead, listen only to real English movies, TV shows, audio books, audio articles, stories, and talk radio shows. Use real English materials.
7. Listen and Answer Mini-Stories (not Listen and Repeat)
Because the teacher constantly and quickly asks easy questions, you don’t have time to think about grammar. You just immediately shout a couple of words– which teaches you to respond faster, and faster, and faster.
